Tropical Depression #4 upgraded to Tropical Storm


At 11:00 AM EDT, today Tropical Depression #4 was upgraded to Tropical Storm Dorian making it the fourth named storm to form during the 2013 storm season.

Tropical Storm Dorian is located 410 miles west-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands and moving toward the west-northwest at 21 mph. The maximum sustained winds are 50 mph and the minimum central pressure is 1002 mb.

Dorian is forecast to continue toward the west-northwest for the next couple of days. Some slight strengthening is possible today followed by gradual weakening on Thursday as Dorian moves over cooler water.

SUMMARY:  Located 14.3N, 29.9W about 410 miles west-south of Cape Verde Islands with maximum sustained winds of 50mph, present movement west-northwest or 285 degrees at 21mph minimum central pressure 1002mb. At present, there are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
