Top cops arrest drug and burglary suspects

Within the span of two days, two of Apalachicola’s top police officers made separate arrests bringing to justice a suspected drug dealer and a burglar.

On Tuesday, August 31, during a routine traffic stop, Officer Timmy Davis arrested an Apalachicola woman on drug charges and on Thursday, September 2, Officer Anthony Croom arrested an Apalachicola man on burglary charges.

In the drug arrest, 47-year-old Belinda Kelliher was driving a Black Dodge Durango when stopped at approximately 10:21PM by Davis.

During the stop, Davis assisted by Deputies Lt. Kevin Newell and Ronnie Jones with the Franklin County Sheriff Office, searched Kelliher’s vehicle and found several medicine bottles containing prescription drugs estimated to be valued at $4,000 to $4,500.

The officers arrested Kelliher and charged her with 143 counts of possession of a controlled substance and 28 counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell.

Two days later, a short investigation by Croom led to the arrest of Cameron Barwick on burglary charges.

At approximately 6:00PM, Croom started receiving calls from dispatch regarding the burglary of several area businesses. After beginning the initial investigation, Croom’s discovered that a total of three businesses and two vehicles had been broken into the night before.

Upon viewing footage from a surveillance camera, Croom’s learned the identity of the suspect. Continuing the investigation, the officer collected other evidence, located the suspect, questioned, and arrested him on three counts of burglary of a structure, and two counts of burglary of a conveyance.

Both Kelliher and Barwick were booked into the Franklin County Jail located on State Road 65 outside of Eastpoint, Florida.
