Come see the newly renovated Apalachicola Youth Center also known as the Matchbox during the heyday of the Apalachicola High School Boys Varsity Basketball Teams. A phrase coined due to the size of the gymnasium in comparison to others around the area, however, through the years the young men that graced its court played with such intensity that it actually heated up the building, which frustrated many opposing teams.
The open house is scheduled for Friday, March 27, 2015, from 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M., so come out and join us for a fun filled night to see and tour the newly renovated facility.
The center has been created to be a high level, all-inclusive whole youth and community center. The goal is to create an environment where health plus wellness, positive leadership, purpose development, entrepreneurial education and spiritual principles are brought together and modeled.
Activities during the open house will include a free basketball skills clinic provided by GameSpeed a premier basketball skill training program out of Tallahassee, free food, a DJ, video games, an NCAA tournament watch party, and a raffle.
The open house is hosted by the Catalyst Project with support from GameSpeed, Engage Church, and the Grady Market.
