City to Hold Special Meeting to consider resolution regarding navigation of ACF River Basin

The City of Apalachicola will be holding a Special Meeting at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 26, 2016 to consider passing a resolution requesting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) consider navigation of the Apalachicola/Chattahoochee/Flint (ACF) River Basin in the Corps Water Control Manual and draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

As written the draft manual doesn’t take into consideration the needs of the Apalachicola area as it pertains to navigation or the local oyster industry. It’s currently weighted toward upstream users of the system only.

The end of the public comment period for the manual is this January 30, 2016. Because of this, as many people as possible from the Franklin County community and beyond need to contact the USACE via email at ACF-WCM@usace.army.mil to let them know that we want fair and equitable use of the ACF River Basin.
