Knights of Columbus donates transportation to senior citizens

The City of Apalachicola Senior Citizen Service Program housed inside the newly renovated Historic Holy Family Senior Citizens/Community Center is now the proud owner of a donated non-emergency transportation vehicle due to the hard work of Bob Davis and Arnold Tolliver, both members of the local Knights of Columbus Council.

Davis and Tolliver both helped facilitate the donation that was actually made to the city by the Knights of Columbus Bishop O'Sullivan Council #1648, in Apalachicola.

The Knights of Columbus is the world's foremost Catholic fraternal benefit society with more than 14,000 councils and 1.8 members throughout the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Poland, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Cuba, Guatemala, Guam and Saipan.

The donated vehicle came equipped with a wheelchair lift for those seniors with functional and disability limitations.

The Apalachicola Board of City Commissioners, its staff and our entire elder population are truly grateful for this act of kindness and compassion shown by the local Knights of Columbus Council.
