The Patrons of the Apalachicola Library Society (PALS) in collaboration with the Franklin County Tourist Development Council (FCTDC) are once again bringing together over a two-day period local writers, photographers, and journalists who live in or write about Florida's Forgotten Coast.
Starting at 7:00PM on Fri, Sept 28 there will be a $50 plate Civil War Era candlelight dinner at Trinity Church Benedict Hall, the menu will consist of wild game and fresh seafood paired with good wines. The evening will also feature an address by Jeff Shaara, New York Time’s bestselling author of war novels and Harry P. Owens, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of history at the University of Mississippi will be honored. Period attire is optional with all proceeds going to benefit the Library.
The events to be held on Sat, Sept 29 starts with a 8:00AM flag placement at Chestnut Cemetery off U.S. Highway 98 and a 9:00AM book signing at the 1836 Raney House, a 1:00PM author's forum at the Historic Holy Family Center with remarks from Shaara and will conclude with a 5:30PM reception at the 1838 Orman House. All of Saturday's events are free of charge except for a requested $5 donation at the Orman House - a cash bar will also be provided at the reception.
Local authors to be on hand include Gynn Marsh Alam, Charles Farley, Olivia Byrd, Jan Annino, Adrian Fogelin, Betsy James, Dawn Radford, Ellen Ashdown, Richard Noble, Doug Alderson, Marlene Womack, Robin Ingram, John Spohrer, Richard Bickel, Vivian Sherlock, and Willoughby Marshall, also invited are Kevin Begos (Jimmie Nichols Columns), Michael Morris, Lee Lovel and Jack Rudloe.
