The Florida
Department of Health in Franklin County has announced the winners of their first
ever 12 Week Fitness Challenge. The challenge was implemented by local health
officials to help create permanent healthy lifestyle changes amongst the
residents of Franklin County. The
program started on January 7 and ended April 1, and saw a total of 38
participants over the course of the challenge.
“Congratulations to all of the 38 participants for being a part of the Florida
Department of Health in Franklin County first, but surely not the last fitness
challenge”, said Alma Pugh, Human Services Program Specialist, Closing the Gap
Program with the Florida Department of Health in Franklin/Gulf County.
To track their progress
health officials held frequent weigh-ins at both the health clinics in Apalachicola
and Carrabelle. The winners of the challenge
were determined by their percentage of weight lost.
Taking first place
was Tydron Wynn with a loss of 13.59% body weight, coming in second was Jon
Schneiderman with a recorded loss of 11.15%, and the third place winner was
Karey Lehnert with a total loss of 10.85% in body weight.
In the very near future photos of the winners and participants will be featured in the Florida Department of Health in Franklin County's Wellness Newsletter, The Mayor's Blog, Oyster Radio and the Apalachicola Times.
