Warrant Issued for Mayor's Arrest

Apalachicola Mayor Van Johnson guilty as charged

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Apalachicola Mayor Van Johnson on charges of "Inaugurating Generosity" during his employment years as a Franklin County Department Head and as the current mayor of Apalachicola.

Johnson has agreed to turn himself in tomorrow morning, March 6 to authorities for processing and booking at the Franklin County Seahawks PTO "Jail and Bail" fundraiser event held at the Franklin County School off U.S. Hwy 98 in Eastpoint.

Bail at this time is undetermined, but the mayor has stated once he’s booked he will reach out to family, friends, city and county workers to bail him out.
