WWII Boeing B-17 journey’s to Apalachicola

On Sunday, Nov 14, the Liberty Foundation will be offering 25-30 minutes of flight time aboard one of the World War II style Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress out at the Apalachicola Regional Airport.

The four-engine heavy bomber aircraft developed in the 1930’s was primarily employed by the United States Army Air Forces in the daylight precision strategic bombing campaign of World War II against German industrial and military targets.

With a service ceiling greater than any of its Allied contemporaries, the B-17 established itself as an effective weapons system, dropping more bombs than any other U.S. aircraft during the war.

The flights cost $430 per person and are in honor and memory of the late Cleve Randolph, Apalachicola resident and former airport manager. So come on out and experience the sights, sounds, and viewpoint that our WWII heroes saw during combat over 60-years ago.

The Liberty Foundation is a 501(c) (3) non-profit museum, all proceeds benefit the Liberty Belle, and donations are 100% tax deductible.

The Apalachicola Regional Airport is located west of Apalachicola at 8 Airport Road, to schedule a flight, or for more information, please call (918) 340-0243 or visit
