Apalachicola gearing up for 47th Annual Florida Seafood Festival

On Friday, November 5, 2010, the 47th Annual Florida Seafood Festival will kickoff at 4:00PM EST inside Apalachicola’s historic Battery Park and Marina.

The two day festival is Florida’s oldest maritime event which features mouthwatering seafood, arts, crafts, seafood related events and live entertainment.

Some noteworthy festival activities include the oyster eating and sucking contest, blue crab races, cooking contest, parade, 5K redfish run and the blessing of the fleet.

This year’s highlight entertainment will feature country music recording artist John Michael Montgomery on the main stage at 8:00PM Saturday, Nov 6.

Friday will also feature from 6:00PM to 9:00PM in Apalachicola the 6th Annual Downtown Oyster Roast sponsored by the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce.

This event will also have plenty of delectable seafood on hand which includes roasted oysters, oyster on the half shell, creamy artichoke, oyster and thyme soup, fresh local shrimp, blue crabs, salad greens and scratch cakes.

The event will take place at Amanda’s Garden Shop – 147 Commerce Street – in beautiful downtown Apalachicola, with live entertainment provided by local blues artist Joe Hutchinson.
