Triumph and Tribulation

An Eagle sitting high in a tree is confronted by a powerful wind. Instead of being blown away, he spreads his wings and is lifted up by that which came against him.

  1. And who or what is that powerful wind beneath the Eagle's wings?

    From the Bible, Book of Isaiah:

    "He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.

    Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;

    but those who hope in the LORD
    will renew their strength.
    They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint."

    By the way, Mayor Van, I have witnessed a little wonder this month. I like to think it is our City's "Sign from Above." We have had a pair of eagles nesting inside the City limits, across from our home on 12th Street, for about five years. To our knowledge, they have never produced an eaglet, before. THIS MONTH, on the 9th February, we spotted a single eaglet in the nest for the very first time! We named him Perserverance, in tribute to his parents unrelenting efforts, and also, because we know that is what this little symbol of our nation, must inspire in us all right now. He will be fledging soon, so please come catch a glimpse some morning. Thank you for your thoughtful blog post.
