The Apalachicola Board of City Commissioners paved
the way at their March 8, regular meeting for the Veterans’ Business Outreach
Center at Gulf Coast State College to conduct enrichment classes for both
veterans and non-veterans in Apalachicola.
The matter was brought before the commission for consideration by City Administrator Lee Mathes under her monthly report and unanimously approved by the board.
Mathes reported that Quen Lamb, Business
Consultant with the Veterans’ Business Outreach Center was seeking approval for
use of the Battery Park Community Center, at no cost, to teach enrichment
classes beneficial to both veterans and non-veterans in the community and the commission agreed.
The enrichment classes to be taught include basic
computer, chair yoga and ukulele on the following dates and time:
March
24, 2016 - 5:15pm to 8:45pm
March
31, 2016 - 5:15pm to 8:45pm
April
7, 2016 - 5:15pm to 8:45 pm
April
14, 2016 - 5:15pm to 8:45 pm
The
mission of the Veterans' Business Outreach Center is to help create, develop,
and retain veteran-owned small business enterprises. To which, the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of
Commerce have been an integral component, collaborating with Gulf Coast State College
to bring these types of classes and programs to our community.
