The City of Apalachicola Planning & Zoning Board is scheduled to review plans at their October 12, 2015 meeting submitted by the city administration to construct a new municipal library on the North West corner of 12th Street and Avenue E adjacent to the Historic Chapman School building.

The plans drawn by EMO/Architects, Inc., call for the construction of a 3,839 square foot building complete with sidewalks and parking on approximately .77 acres of property deeded to the city by the school district for specific use as the site for the new library.

The city received a $497K grant from the Florida Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services at the end of the 2014 State Legislature session along with taking $200K from the estate of the Late Margaret Key bequeathed to the city for specific use by the library to fund the construction.
