Vehicle crash in Apalachicola sends two to hospital

A two-vehicle crash in Apalachicola Monday evening, June 22, 2015, at the intersection of Coach Wagoner Blvd (14th Street) and US Hwy 98, sent two people to the local hospital.

According to Sgt. Chet Turner with the Apalachicola Police Department, Hong Phuong Thido, of Athens, GA, while traveling North on Coach Wagoner Blvd driving a Toyota Highlander SUV, failed to yield at the stop sign located at the intersection of Coach Wagoner Blvd and US Hwy 98.

As a result, Thido was struck on the driver’s side of the SUV by Jared Zingarelli of Apalachicola traveling East on US Hwy 98 in a Chevrolet Silverado Pickup.

First responders and Fire Fighters from the Apalachicola All Volunteer Fire Department had to use the Jars of Life to eradicate Thido from the SUV. Both Thido and Zingarelli were taken to Weems Memorial Hospital to be checked for injuries.

Thido was cited in the crash by Turner for failure to yield the right-of-way.
