I like to take this opportunity to wish each of you and yours families a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Years and to officially announced the establishment of regular open office hours in the Office of the Mayor beginning with the new year.
Starting Tuesday, January 7, 2014, and thereafter, I will be in the office Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week from 10:00AM to 12:00PM and from 2:00PM to 4:00PM to give Apalachicola residents and others the opportunity to meet with me on a drop-in basis to discuss whatever issues, ideas or concerns that are on their minds without an appointment.
The establishment of an open office with regular hours is essential for communication purposes and it will give each of you direct access to your local government and a place to meet with me face to face. It's one of my core beliefs that government should be open and accessible to its people.
The Office of the Mayor is located inside the recently named Mayor Van W. Johnson, Sr., Recreation & Community Service Complex at 192 Coach Wagoner Blvd., Suite 1, the site of the old Apalachicola High School.
