Rev. R. B. Holmes, Jr.
Opening it's doors today in Apalachicola and broadcasting from the historic downtown district is WOCY 106.5 FM radio station now owned by the Reverend Dr. R. B. Holmes, Jr., a native of Jacksonville and a resident of Tallahassee.

Holmes, pastor of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Tallahassee, one of the largest African-American churches in the Tallahassee area announced in earlier meetings that the station acquired from former owner Bonnie Gomes will broadcast community events, sports and Christian related programs and music.

Gomes, owner and president of 3G Broadcasting Inc., purchased the station along with WOYS 100.5 FM aka Oyster Radio for $400K in 2010 as a package deal.

However, Holmes purchase from Gomes only include WOCY, which used to broadcast before the sell top forty pop hits and according to the new owner the station with have the capabilities of broadcasting as far away as Dothan Alabama and stream programs around the world via the Internet.

A grand opening for the station's new Apalachicola home is being planned for the latter part of August.
