Next Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, the Historic City of Apalachicola will sparkle during its annual Apalachicola Christmas Celebration. From 4:00PM to 8:00PM the streets will be lined with luminaries and filled with holiday spirit.
Merchants will be open late and Santa will arrive on a shrimp boat at 4:00PM. The Orman House and Raney Houses will be decorated in holiday greenery and open late for tours.
On Saturday, November 24th, the Apalachicola Bay Chamber is encouraging businesses and residents to celebrate Shop Small Saturday. You've heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, now Shop Small Saturday is a national campaign to encourage folks to shop at locally owned independent businesses.
Help our great local shops shine on "Small Business Saturday" and buy someone on your list a great gift or a gift certificate. For every $100 spent locally $68 circulates in our economy.
Also on Saturday, from 1:00PM to 3:30PM, Santa has a special day devoted to hearing wishes from his furry friends. Bring your camera and make a donation to the Franklin County Humane Society and get your pet's photo take with Santa. There will be a pet costume contest at 3:00PM and special treats for dogs.
For more information, telephone the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce office at (850) 653-9419 or send email to info@apalachicolabay.org.
