Mayor, we need to consider our own back-up plan, like Gulf Breeze, FL has devised, so that we are not reliant upon boom or other equipment supply, or timely decisions made by the responsible party. We simply cannot afford to be sitting on our hands here. Even weathered oil will be devastating for our waters. FDA will be banning our oysters for a generation if this comes in here. I will not stand by, shaking my head and watch this area's seafood heritage die. Oil sheen is now within nine miles of Pensacola Beach. What can I do? The alarm has been sounded; your soldier is mustered; what is OUR battle plan, in case the "General" doesn't arrive to lead the defensive attack? Mobilizing for "mop up" detail, will be too little, too late.
