Topical Depression has formed in the southern Gulf of Mexico

Topical Depression #3 has formed in the southern Gulf of Mexico. The depression is forecast to become Tropical Storm Colin later today or tonight.

Here are a few key points:
  • The tropical cyclone will move to the NNE - NE toward the state of Florida tonight and into Monday. Impacts would spread into our area generally on Monday and Monday Night.
  • Overall, though, impacts are expected to be relatively minor. The main threat will be related to localized flooding from heavy rain, as well as coastal flooding  due to storm surge along the immediate Apalachee Bay coastline.
  • There is also a threat for isolated tornadoes across portions of the area Monday afternoon and evening.
