The 5th Annual Apalachicola Mardi Gras Barkus parade scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Historic downtown Apalachicola has announced David Adlerstein, Editor of the Apalachicola Times Newspaper as the 2016 Grand Marshall.
The theme for this year's parade is Woofstock so expect to see dogs dressed as hippies, flower pooches, the Grateful Dogs, the Beagles - with their people in similar garb. The participants will be reaching back into a time of peace, love and 60's Rock n Roll. Walk with your dog for $5.00. Dogs are free.
Register your float for $20.00. Decorate your golf cart, an oyster boat, a pickup and trailer, or a convertible with psychedelic tie dye and peace signs. Imagination is your only limitation. There will be music, dogs, dancers and beads. Beautiful beads to wear and throw beads will be sold at registration on the day of the event prior to the parade.
The after party will be held immediately following the parade at the corner of Commerce and Avenue F. Come immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes promised by this fun event. There will be authentic Cajun food, libation, games, a picture booth, live music and dancing.
All proceed go to the Apalachicola City Dog Park and the Franklin County Humane Society. Mark your calendars now. Bring the whole family including the family dog. It will become one of your yearly traditions for a great cause.
There is still time to become one of the valuable sponsors and/or volunteer to help make it happen. Check it out on their website, mystickreweofsaltybarkers.com or call 269-568-9468 with questions.
