Today the Franklin County SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) recognized the local CVS Pharmacy for the decision its corporate office made in February to discontinue the sale of tobacco products in all of its retail stores.
According to Gina Moore, Tobacco Prevention Specialist with the Franklin County Health Department, today’s presentation was a coordinated effort that will continue throughout the week with SWAT teams cross the state making similar presentations in their communities.
CVS, the largest retailer and pharmacy in America, has estimated it will take an annual loss of $3.5 billion that were derived from the sale of tobacco products.
On hand during the presentation were Franklin County Sheriff Mike Mock and Apalachicola Police Chief Bobby Varnes.
