St. Vincent Island Open House

This coming Saturday, March 21, from 9:00AM to 3:00PM, the Supporters of St Vincent National Wildlife Refuge will host their annual Open House.

The Supporters of St Vincent is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization, sponsors this annual event to provide a day of easy access to Franklin County’s St Vincent Island for people to enjoy a free full day of nature-related activities.

Free transport to and from the island will be provided hourly departing from the Indian Pass public boat ramp. Guided tours and exhibits will allow visitors to learn about the island’s protected wildlife, diverse ecosystems, and history as well as enjoy the unspoiled beauty of this unique, pristine, uninhabited refuge. Numerous volunteers including the Supports and various community organizations will provide educational talks and discussions. The guided tours will be both walking and vehicular. Light snacks and bottled water will be available.

10:00-11:30 Kid’s Beginner Bushcraft-limit 18 kids ages 8-12 each accompanied by one parent
11:00-12:00 Kids Hike-limit 10

1:00-3:00 Beach Hike-moderate intensity-limit 10
1:00-3:00 Walking Bird Tour-limit 15
1:00-2:30 Kid’s Beginner Bushcraft-limit 18 kids ages 8-12 each accompanied by one parent
1:30-3:30 Wagon Island Tour-limit 25

SIGN UPS for these events will be on the day of the event on the island at the Supporters Booth.
