Heavy Rainfall and Flash Flooding Possible in Near-coastal Areas of Florida

A Flash Flood Watch for coastal and near-coastal areas of the Florida Panhandle and Florida Big Bend has been issued today.

Slow-moving thunderstorms could produce hourly rain rates up to 2-3 inches per hour today and possibly in a second round tonight. Rainfall totals could exceed 6 inches in some locations. Some of the areas included in the watch already received heavy rainfall yesterday.

Beside the threat for locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding, we could also see some isolated severe storms today. The main threat would be damaging winds.
