By way of
proclamation issued May 21, 2015, Gov. Rick Scott has directed all National and
State flags in Florida to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until noon on May
25, 2015, in memory of the fallen heroes of the Armed Forces of these United
States in observance of Memorial Day 2015.
"Our young men
and women in uniform have sacrificed their lives to maintain the security of
our great Nation and the liberties we hold so dear", wrote Scott.
"We should
express our deepest sympathies and give thanks to the families who have lost
their loved ones in service to America".
In addition to the
proclamation Scott is asking all Floridians to honor the sacrifice of our
fallen heroes by pausing for a moment of silence at 3:00 p.m. on May 25, 2015.
The Apalachicola Board of City Commissioners and staff wishes everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend.
