Mayor Johnson's remarks from yesterday's Annual Apalachicola Christmas Celebration

It's been a great privilege and a profound honor for me to represent the Historic City of Apalachicola and its wonderful people as their mayor for the last six years and to be called upon on this special occasion to welcome each of you to our Annual Christmas Celebration - brought to you by the fine folks at our local Chamber of Commerce.

Christmas is a very special time of the year, it’s a time for sharing and a time for caring, it’s a time for reaching out the hand of friendship and reconciliation.

This Christmas, awe collectively and individually begin to open our homes and hearts to our families and friendslet us not forget the child next door, the family down the street, that elderly person across town, the sick, the poor, the hungry, the less fortunate, and those that will spend this holiday season alone and brokenhearted because of the loss of a loved oneLet’s make their lives a little brighter and in doing so; we do it as unto Christ, the real reason behind the season.

Let each of us be the source of civility, peace and contentment in our homes, on our jobs, in our neighborhoods and while interacting with each other and in doing so; we will inherit the promised earth.

Let us embrace the birth of Christ, the real reason behind the season, the beginning of all understanding and the pathway to peace, civility and contentment.

With thatwelcome each of you to this annual celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and wish you gloriouChristmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.
