The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a freeze watch, which is in effect from late Wednesday night through Thursday morning. A strong cold front will push through the region tonight with much colder and drier air building in from the Northwest.
High temperatures on Wednesday will not recover very much from the overnight lows tonight. With maximum temperatures ranging from the mid 40's to the North and West over parts of Southeast Alabama to the mid 50's to the South and East over Southeastern sections of the Florida Big Bend.
The cold air will set the stage for a likely widespread freeze across the region on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Temperatures could be below freezing for 3 to 6 hours in many locations. When combined with the wind, wind chills could range from 22 to 30 degrees.
Sub-freezing temperatures for these durations could impact crops and sensitive vegetation and could be hazardous to both people and pets.
