The construction of the new public restroom facility in downtown Apalachicola is now complete and has been placed into service for public use. City staff opened the doors to the facility today to be used during the Independent Film Festival scheduled for tomorrow night across the street in Riverfront Park.
The cost to construct the facility totaled $300K and was funded through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) as an initiative of the City's Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), which was revived with the appointment of new boardmembers following the 2007 mayoral election. Local contractor William Poloronis of Poloronis Construction was awarded the contract in January to build the facility and finished the work late yesterday.
Beginning Monday, October 21th the facility will be open 7-days a week from 9:00AM - 6:00PM.
