Thursday, September 5, 2013, representatives from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and the FAMU Small Business Development Center and will be on hand to provide information and to assist small business owners in completing the Estimated Disaster Economic Damage Worksheets needed to qualify the area for a Small Business Administration Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Declaration. An EIDL Declaration Request is being considered in response to a commercial fishery failure determination recently approved for the Apalachicola Bay Area by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
If approved, the EIDL Program will offer working capital loans to eligible businesses. There must be a minimum of five (5) affected businesses in the area for the Governor to request an EIDL Declaration.
If you believe your business has not been able to meet its obligations or is not able to pay its operating expenses due to adverse oyster harvesting conditions in the Apalachicola Bay, we encourage you to complete and return an Estimated Economic Damage Worksheet.
If assistance is needed in completing the worksheet, you can schedule a time to meet with a state representative.
