Apalachicola city officials received word today from BP announcing the oil giant was closing as of Friday, February 25, its Apalachicola Outreach Office located at 320 Water Street.
As a response to last summer’s oil spill in the Gulf, BP established eight Community Outreach Centers throughout coastal Florida to serve the public.
The centers provided a local BP point of contact for people in the community to ask questions, obtain information and address concerns about a variety of topics including, but not limited to, the response operations in Florida, and environmental concerns such as wildlife or shoreline needing attention.
Information about federal and state government resources and local non-profits assisting in the recovery were also available at the centers.
