Progress to trim "Hotspots" no major cutting proposed

Residents of the City of Apalachicola please be aware that Progress Energy has permission from city officials to conduct a minor tree trimming operation throughout the City to minimize tree limbs rubbing on power lines.

This "hotspot" trimming by the utility company was approved recently so that street light repairs could be made along Highway 98 and sections of B, C, D, and F Avenues.

Officials with the utility company say the tree limbs rubbing on power lines have damaged some street light circuitry and needs to be repaired before street light repairs can be completed. The minor trimming is expected to be complete by April 22.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact City Administrator Betty Taylor-Webb at (850) 653-8222.
