Gala To Benefit Youth Conservation Corps And Promote Unity

One City. One Voice. One Vision.

"Our Apalachicola community consistently proves it is at its best when it comes together to support its children", said Helen Willis-Escobar, in announcing plans for a Gala Benefit Saturday November 21, 2015 at the Holy Family Center in Apalachicola. "Proceeds from the event will help to raise funds to establish a summer youth stewardship program within the recently established Youth Conservation Corps of the Forgotten Coast", said Willis-Escobar, a spokeswoman for the coalition and an event co-chair.

ONE, a network of community groups and the living former and present Mayor's of Apalachicola have joined with H'COLA, Franklin's Promise and the Nature Conservancy to support the Youth Conservation Corps. The Gala event will recognize the contributions to the community youth made by all former mayor's as well as recently re-elected Mayor Van Johnson.

“All former mayors (still living) and Johnson will be in attendance as guests of honor", said Fonda Davis, also an event co-chair. “They will be on hand to greet long time friends in the community, and lend their continued support to the effort".

The Summer Youth Stewardship Program will provide local youth opportunities for summer mentorships with local businesses.
