Body retrieved from river yesterday identified as Panama City man


According to a press release from the Apalachicola Police Department, on July 6, 2015, at approximately 12:15 p.m.,  Apalachicola Police Officer Chase Richards was dispatched to the area of Battery Park Marina in Apalachicola in reference to a body found floating in the water that was discovered by local residents fishing from the pier.

With assistance from Franklin County Sheriff Deputies, Ronnie Jones and Larry Smith, the body of a male subject determined to be deceased was recovered from the water. 

Identification from the body identified the subject as James Dean Broyles of Panama City Florida. Mr. Broyles remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Tallahassee for autopsy to determine cause of death. At this time, no foul play is suspected.
