H'COLA recognize students for academic excellence

The Hillside Coalition Of Laborers for Apalachicola (H'COLA) honored eight Franklin County students at their 4th Annual Honor Student Luncheon held today inside the Franklin Square Recreation Center on 6th Street.  

For the last four years the H'COLA group has selected students who earn the honor roll the majority of the school year from the Hill Community to be recognized at the annual luncheon.

Receiving recognition for academic excellence in the classroom for the 2013-2014 school year were: Bria Walker, Jathan Martin, Brandon Walker, Michael Melton, Arryonna Cargill, Nyasia Davis, Kamora Harris and Alexcia McNair.

Franklin County School Board Member, Pretrica Ann Martin along with Apalachicola City Commissioner Brenda Ash, Apalachicola Mayor Van Johnson and Assistant Franklin County School Principal Harolyn Walker were in attendance and spoke during the luncheon.

The event was made possible through the generous contributions made by Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and St. Paul AME Church.
