Work has begun at Scipio Creek Marina to install the long anticipated lift to haul out commercial and recreational vessels for repairs and routine maintenance. Local contractor Poloronis Construction was awarded a $329,000 competitive bid... in early February to complete the project by June 30, 2013. Funding for this specific project was obtained through a Community Development Block Grant. In addition to the lift, the city will also be expending $1,855,000 from a US Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration Grant to modernize the old marina into a viable facility to help sustain and generate seafood related jobs.
