FEMA opens aid office in Apalachicola

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has setup shop inside the City of Apalachicola’s Community Service Center (Old Apalachicola High School) located at 192 14th Street to assist those who sustained damages from Tropical Storm Debby.

If you suffered any losses, the first step is to file a claim by calling FEMA at 1(800) 621-3362.  FEMA staff is prepared to help with storm related repairs to homes as well as answer questions about what benefits are available.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) is also onsite to assist with applications for SBA loans and other business assistance programs.  Make sure you speak to an SBA representative about business losses, boat damage, etc.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, you can claim lost income if it’s a result of the storm.  In addition, the Gulf Coast Workforce Center also has a representative onsite who can assist with online applications for “Disaster Unemployment Assistance” benefits.

If you have additional questions, please call the Franklin County Emergency Operation Center (EOC) Hotline at (850) 653-3930 or Franklin’s Promise Coalition at (850) 653-3930.
