The City of Apalachicola agreed at its September 7 meeting to follower the recommendation of its Fire Chief George Watkins and voted to purchase a new pumper truck for use in the all-volunteer department. The new truck is expected to improve the city's ISO rating.

The City of Apalachicola agreed at its September 7 meeting to follower the recommendation of its Fire Chief George Watkins and voted to purchase a new pumper truck for use in the all-volunteer department. The new truck is expected to improve the city's ISO rating.

Thank you Mayor Van and Commissioners for your vote of confidence and support in our volunteer fire department. We pledge our utmost, as friends of the department, to help raise as much money as possible toward the payment on this much needed equipment. ANYONE"S house or business could be the next one to be responded to, through accident, negligence, or act of nature, like lightning. Beyond the possible reduction in insurance costs, I will sleep better at night, or when I travel, knowing the improved level of preparedness of our department.
