Apalachicola City Commissioner James Elliott recognized for 30-years of service

Long serving Apalachicola City Commissioner James Elliott was recognized at the Apalachicola Board of City Commissioners December 3 meeting, for 30-years of dedicated service to the people of Apalachicola as an elected municipal official.

Sharon Berrian, associate director of membership development with the Florida League of Cities appeared before the city commission and read a stirring resolution recognizing Elliott as an exceptional dedicated public servant, "… thirty-years of elected service, seven terms in office, are high compliments that voters give their elected officials", said Berrian.

The resolution was adopted by the Florida League of Cities board of directors at their 2013 Annual Conference held August 15-17, at the World Center Marriott in Orlando and signed by the League’s board of directors President, P.C. Wu, a City Councilman with the City of Pensacola and Mark Sittig, membership manager for the League.

Elliott, first elected to the Apalachicola city commission in 1983, is one of the longest serving elected municipal officials in the State of Florida.
