Chantal continues to move rapidly toward the lesser Antilles

At 5:00AM AST, today Monday July 8th, Tropical Storm Chantal is located 705 miles east-southeast of Barbados and moving toward the west at 26 mph. The maximum sustained winds are 40 mph and the minimum central pressure is 1007 mb.

Chantal is moving toward the west at near 26 mph and a west-northwestward motion is expected during the next couple of days. On the forecast track, the center of Chantal should approach the Lesser Antilles late tonight or early Tuesday and move into the eastern Caribbean Sea on Tuesday. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
