A Fun-Filled Night at the Calendar Girls Cabaret

Saturday night was a spectacular fun-filled night for all at the Fort Coombs National Guard Armory in Historic Apalachicola where Franklin Needs, Inc., rolled out at the Calendar Girls Cabaret benefit fundraiser its 2013 Calendar Girls calendar featuring beautiful women from across the Franklin County community.

Both Franklin Needs, Inc., and the Calendar Girls Cabaret benefit fundraiser are the brainchild of its president and founder Elaine Kozlowsky of Eastpoint.

Franklin Needs, Inc., which is managed by a board of directors, hosted the benefit to promote breast cancer awareness and to raise funds to provide free mammogram screening at Weems Memorial Hospital for residents of Franklin County ages 35 to 64 who have no health insurance.

Some of the women featured in the 2009 Calendar Girls calendar was on hand and joined their 2013 counterparts dancing throughout the night to music played by DJ Van Johnson with Hi-Fi Entertainment, LLC.

The night also featured solos and duets performed by both Dr. Tamara Marsh and Ginny Griner, with Marsh bringing down the house with her solo rendition of "Cabaret".  Other entertainment featured Pam Nobles and the Hot Flashes strutting to “All That Jazz”, while Carol Barfield sung happy birthday Acappella style to the cancer survivors, which led into dancing to Stevie Wonders hit tune Happy Birthday played by Johnson.

Over twenty-three gift items donated by area merchants and individuals were raffled throughout the evening.

The 2013 Calendar Girls models are: January – Dixie Partington, February – Kristin Anderson, March – Clarice Powell, April – Carol Zurawka and Laverne Smith, May – Debbie Flowers, June – Terry Kemp, July – Mary Slocum, August – Carol Barfield, September – Tamara Bibb Allen, October – Anna Carmichael, November – Marcia Johnson, December – All Calendar Girls 2009 and 2013.
