The Hillside Coalition of Laborers for Apalachicola (H’COLA) are making plans for their annual flagship event, the African-American History Festival (AAHF), which takes place each year on the 3rd weekend in February. The weekend outdoor festival celebrates and highlights African-American heritage, including art, culture, and food.
In addition to global African-American history, the event is also a celebration of the local community’s history, arts, and culture, as well.
Saturday kicks off with the pulsating annual parade which leads to historic Franklin Square where the opening ceremonies begin a day filled with a full range of activity, including live entertainment, exhibits, inspirational speakers, music, dance, poetry, drama, a variety of booths displaying arts and crafts, information, educational, services, food– you name it!
The event provides something for the entire family and every age group from pre-school to senior citizen.
Through the support of local businesses, grants, partnerships, in-kind support, hard work, and dedication, admission is FREE!
Historic Franklin Square is located in the North Historic District, “The Hill” between 6th and 7th Streets and between Avenues L & M.
