Apalachicola gearing up for 12th Annual
Antique & Classic Boat Show

In its twelfth year, the annual Apalachicola Antique & Classic Boat Show is gearing up for another exciting event this Friday and Saturday, April 23 – 24.

Starting at 10:00AM on Friday and lasting throughout the day there will be a boat building demonstration conducted by local master boat builders.

In addition to the boat building demonstration, also on Friday from 12:00PM – 4:00PM, there will be a Marine Art and Maritime History exhibit at the Cotton Warehouse located at 86 Water Street.

As a special treat for the nautical enthusiast, the Schooner Governor Stone will travel from Panama City late Friday and dock at Riverfront Park for display during the boat show on Saturday from 10:00AM - 4:00PM. Once moored in Historic Apalachicola, the 1877-doubled masted, gaff-rigged Schooner is a National Historic Landmark Registered Florida Antique Vessel.

The festival will kick off again at 10:00AM Saturday morning with a display of antique classics, traditional vessels, workboats, and fiberglass and aluminum classics until 4:00PM that afternoon.

Special highlights include authentic oyster boats, workboats, and home-built boats by skilled craftsmen, plus antique outboard engines. Antique automobiles will line Avenue E, including Studebakers, Model A’s, Chevys and more.

More activities include displays by the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve about the Apalachicola River and its flora and fauna.

The Apalachicola River Keepers will be on hand with their boat to provide informative trips on the Apalachicola River and Archaeologists Kevin Porter will speak about the Apalachicola Traders’ Canoe, a handcrafted 50-foot long vessel in use between the years 1750 – 1850 and recently recovered from the Apalachicola River.
