The Duke Energy tree
trimming project, originally scheduled to begin in February, has been
rescheduled to begin the week of July 13, 2015. In preparation of the Duke
Energy trimming project and in the interest of preserving unique and historic
trees, city officials identified and tagged with yellow ribbons approximately
100 trees that City officials have requested be given special attention. The
tree Trimming project is expected to last several weeks with teams of eight
trucks working the area four days a week until the end of August. Contractors
for Duke will begin canvassing the neighborhoods within days, hanging door
hangers to notify property owners of impending work. The map below shows the
project area targeted for work.
At the same time,
contractors for Duke Energy will also be making repairs to poles and lines
within the city, primarily in the eastern section of the city. Those crews will
work in teams with 10 repair trucks and work is expected to last through the
end of the year.
